To dial a number and communicate in
real time with the opposite side of the world with our cellular phone it's so
usual, but it's not so simple as it appear!!! Using my passion and my knowledge,
i try in this page to write about story of this thing that revolutionize costume
of modern society.
One of the most important
technological innovation in the 90's is the cellular phone. Mobile phone
technology begin a little diffusion in the 80's and in the beginning of 90's and
in the middle of this decade, thanks to competition, new service (internet, sms...),
improve phone, know a big commercial boom. First with the analogue mobile phone
and then with the "global system for mobile" also know as GSM, the network that
we use today.
The eternal run towards the small
phone bring us from phone that for weight and dimension can be used only in cars
or boats

At the end of 80's motorola present the innovative design (for that period) of the motorola microtac series,
in the '90s we had the nokia 6110, the ericsson 388/688 and the first small cellphone, the expensive
motorola StarTAC in 1996

At the end of the century, we saw
motorola v3688 (nickname: date), nokia 8210, panasonic GD90....
Chemical evolution help a lot the
designer to produce small phone, because in the 80's was impossible to have a
very small battery with a good capacity... in the 80's phone use nickel-cadmio
battery (ni-cd), in the 90's we see the evolution with nickel-metallhidrate (ni-mh),
lithium-ione (li-ion) and the modern lithium-polymer that we begin to use at the
end of 90's and that we use today.
Despite the diffusion of internet
mobile begin at the end of the first decade of this century, already at the end
of 90's was possible to surf internet with a cell-phone, with the old protocol "wap".
it's interesting to notice that after 10 years respect the period of the
smallest phone ever (t28, startac, 8210...) the dimension of the cell phone grow
up!
Who remember the game "snake" in the
nokia phone? Who remember the first GSM that don't send message? Who remember
the problem of network coverage? Who remember that to chose a network operator,
we check if the coverage was good in our house? No... it's not 100 years ago....
it was in the middle of 90's!!!

My phone collection

remember that it was not able to sens SMS, it can only recieve it...! I change
it with another ericsson: the GF388.
Immediately i change the keypad with the one of the 337, so i had the same
esthetics (i dislike the gf388...), but a lot of more function. It was the years
where a lot of teens buy a mobile phone, the summer where a lot of teen had the
nokia 5110 and a lot of teen go mad for "snake"...!
(nickname:
chamelon for the curious characteristic to have a cover that change colours... I
change the ericsson and i dream a t28... but it is too expensive, so i buy the
little brother, the T18.
And I change the nokia 6110 with a nokia 6150.
Then i
had only a phone and i change 3 nokia 7110
while i
attend that someone sell a smartphone... So i buy a very good htc
replaced with an htc hd.
