Nokia 8810 was presented in 1998 and was the first of 3 phone designed by
Frank Nuovo. Those 3 models want to sign a point of reference for design,
refinement and care for details in a cellular phone. The first thing that
attract attention in this phone is the metal chrome cover and the little
dimension. In fact 8810 is the first little cellular phone produced by Nokia.
Usually nokia cellular phone has a retrocover, in the 8810 is the backside of
the battery which is chrome and there is no retrocover.
The phone, so, it's a status symbol, in the end of '90s a cellular phone was
something new and it was a detail in a person that was not unobsserved. The
diffusion of this phone and of the other 2 successors (Nokia
8850 and Nokia 8910) was limited by the high
price... about double of Ericsson T28 or
Motorola StarTAC.
It's possible to change the cover in a Nokia 8810, but the original cover
with chrome is fantastic, so it's very difficul to find someone who change it....
The software of this Nokia is like the software of other expensive Nokia (like
6110 for example): easy, complete and full of insight.
To connect the phone with a laptop or another cellphone it's present an IRDA
port.
The radio signal is good, but it's possible to have a degrade if you touch
the plastic part in the back of the phone. In fact, the only non-chrome part is
in plastic and there is located the antenna.
The original battery is ni-mh, but the litio battry is optional.
It's hard to find defect at this jewerly, but if we want to criticize it, we
can say that the phone is not dual band and operate only in 900Mhz band; then
the chrome that cover the phone is a little bit delicate. |
