Nokia 8850 was sell in 1999 and was the most expensive Nokia cellphone in
that year. The design was created by Frank Nuovo, a designer who arrive in Nokia
after his study in the Art Center College of Design in pasadena. This
series of 3 phone (8810,
8850, 8910) is probaly one of his better
creation.
It's very nice and work very well nokia 8850... teh battery life is 3 hours
and 45 minutes in conversation and 170 hours in standby... over 7 days!!!!
8850 had no competitors in 1999 because there was no productor who
sell
phone at similar price. The most expensive Ericsson (t28) and motorola (v3688)
was antagonist of Nokia 8210; a phone that was similar (for function and
performance) at 8850, a phone that however offer a nice design in similar
dimension. The big difference between 8850 and 8210 is the design... a plastic
cover for 8210 and a alluminium cover (available in 3 colors: black, gold and
alluminium) with an active flip for 8850. Another difference between 8850 and
8210 is the colour of the light of the screen: a normal green for 8210 and an
elegant and inusual white for 8850
This is the words of Nuovo: "This never made it to market in the U.S. When this first came out in Asia, it was going for twenty-eight hundred dollars. It was unbelievable what was happening. Take this stylistically--I call this the pressure wave." Nuovo caressed two little ridges on the lower half of the phone. You wouldn't even notice them if you were not looking for them. "Think about cars, aerodynamics, wind tunnels. Look at our styling here--it is so copied around the planet. The language we have put forward is about the emotion of speed and increasing velocity. The influence of the auto is there, of course. But it's not about cars. It's about movement, and it's about"--he paused before delivering his mantra--"the attempt to do one thing well."
nuovo after the experience in Nokia, went to the premium brand of finnish brand:
Vertu. Unfortunately Vertu phone cost a LOT of money (about 15-30.000€) and so
it's not sell in a normal shop and so i can not rewiev those phone here...
like the cousin 8810 and
8910, nokia didn't sell a lot of 8850, because the software and the hardware
of 8850 is very similar to 8850.. so people prefer to buy 8210 (that was not
cheap,....) and who buied 8850 was a people who like to spend a lot of money in
design.....
